A link to the Virginia Atlas of Community Health is available on the Center’s web site address at www.vahealthycommunities.com. To access help at any time on the home page (pictured below), click the link at the upper right of every page entitled “Help.” You will also find constant access to “Log In” or “Log Out”, as well as “Home.”
Click on the "Demonstration" button to read more information about the Atlas
tool, view reports, and create maps using the Atlas. Please note: Many features
of the Atlas require users to register with the Atlas and create a username and
password.
To register with the Atlas, click on the ‘Register’ button. On the Create A
New Account page, create and type in your user ID, password, and other required
fields in the designated text boxes and click ‘Register.’ After successfully
registering, you will immediately be redirected to the ‘Menu Page.’
After registering with the Atlas, click ‘Login’ and enter your user ID and
password. There is a check box option (‘Remember Me’) available, so that you
will not have to retype the information for return visits. After logging in,
you will immediately be redirected to the ‘Menu Page.’
From the Menu page (pictured below), users have to ability to:

Create a State Report

Create a County Report
-
Create a Zip Code Report
- Create a Map
- Download Data

To create a County /City report, select by county from the dropdown menu and click “Go” button. The report will be shown in the browser. Please refer to page 14-16 to view a sample report.

To create ZIP code report, type the ZIP code into the available text box and click “Go” button. The report will be shown in the browser. Please refer to pages 17-19 to view a sample report.
- From here you can copy and paste the data into another application, or print the report.
- To create another report, simply click the back button in your browser and repeat the process.
To download Virginia Health Indicators in Excel format, click on the Microsoft Excel link on the “Menu” page where it reads “Downloadable Data.”
To access help, highlight and click on “Help” located in the upper right hand corner of each web page. The “Help” page contains links to additional web pages providing background information about the Atlas, health indicators, a user walkthrough, and a demonstrated walkthrough.
